I’ve worked in the advertising and creative industries since 2001, both on the agency side as an in-house online copywriter and account manager, as well as a freelance copywriter working in my shorts and thongs from home (I occasionally put on pants when I need to meet with clients in big buildings).

As an account manager in agency land, I gained an in-depth understanding of the advertising production process, the creative environment and how to maintain strong client relationships.

As a copywriter, I’ve written copy for pretty much every medium, including websites, microsites, eDMs, online videos, brochures, corporate profiles, direct mail, press ads, radio ads and more.

During my time in both the corporate and freelance worlds, I’ve written copy for many leading brands such as oneworld, NRMA Insurance, Subaru, Qantas, SAP, Accor Hotels, AGL, Optus, Westpac, Zurich, Freedom, Oral-B, HCF, Rebel Sport, Cochlear, and Leighton to name a few.

I hold a Bachelor Degree in Leisure and Sport Management from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and have also completed training at the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) and the Australian School of Copywriting.

After completing a Bachelor Degree in Business with a double major in advertising and marketing, I moved into online marketing for The Eclipse Group. There I was responsible for managing content on one of the early versions of www.holden.com.au developing a consistent content structure across all their vehicles. 

I then moved into the management of online marketing for Microsoft Australia – email marketing, website development, online advertising and promotions – with interactive agency OneDigital, before starting my own copywriting business.

For more than 15 years, I’ve specialised in business copywriting, partnering with digital agencies and corporate clients on websites and digital content. Along with my copywriting partners, I’ve worked with agencies large and small on brands including Microsoft, NRMA, SAP, Westpac and AGL to name a few.

I was previously a Director and Editor of Flying Solo – Australia’s largest small business community – and Head of Publishing at Pinstripe Media, creating inspirational small business, startup and personal finance content. In 2011, I co-authored Flying Solo Revisited – How to go it alone in business with Robert Gerrish and Sam Leader.

What’s more, you could spend a lot of money on your advertising but if it’s poorly written, your message won’t get through to your target market. By looking objectively at your business, we can identify strengths and weaknesses that may have been overlooked, and gain a sound understanding of your clients and competitors. We then provide you with original and persuasive copy that gets the right message to the right people. This gives your company the edge.

Editing your existing copy can improve and clarify your message. It ensures the language and content accurately reflects your business objectives and is relevant to your audience. Editing and proof reading also checks your existing copy for accuracy and consistency on things such as layout, spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary.

First and foremost, we try to make the process as simple as possible for you. Leave us to write the copy so you can get back to working on other areas of your business. Therefore, as a rough guide, the process works like this:

  • Call or email us to discuss your requirements.
  • We provide you with an upfront quote for the job.
    (A communication brief may be required before a quote is provided or work commences.)
  • Once the quote is approved, we get to work.
    This includes lots of research, as this is crucial in understanding the brief, the market, your customers and even your competitors.
  • The copy is sent back to you for review.
  • Amendments are made if necessary.
  • Copy is approved and submitted.

As copywriting is all about the written word, there is often no need to have time-consuming meetings. Phone and email work well for most clients. However, there are occasions when we’ll need to sit down to discuss a project. This usually happens either to put a face to a name for a new client or at the start of a larger job. In these cases, we’re more than happy to meet up.

Copyright is a legal term pertaining to the creation of original work such as music, movies etc.
